An important part of our work is working trips, during which lawyers help to rescue victims of trafficking in persons and start the processes of legal prosecution of criminals.
From time to time, our lawyers visit partner organizations, where they help to rescue victims of trafficking in human beings and start the processes of legal prosecution of criminals.
There is an example of a case where only the unified efforts of our partners helped to institute criminal proceedings.

This spring, the hotline of the NGO "ISTIQBOLLI AVLOD" (Uzbekistan) received a message about 7 Uzbek men. They were forcibly held at a construction site in Nur-Sultan. Representatives of the Kashkadarya branch of the "ISTIQBOLLI AVLOD" immediately contacted the public foundation "Kargau-Astana."

Our colleagues from Kazakhstan released the men and placed them in the shelter.

This story ended well for the victims, but the case has not been taken to the court yet. Unfortunately, due to the difference in national legal norms, it is not easy to bring criminals to justice.

Lawyers of the NGO "ISTIQBOLLI AVLOD" are now sending complaints to the General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a demand to initiate a criminal case under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Consulate of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan, and the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan are also working on the case.

If you are interesting in combating trafficking in persons, we would love to have you as part of our volunteer team.
